Beginner Banjo Style Workshop #1

Clawhammer from Scratch (6:45-7-45 p.m.)
In this introduction to the Old-Time Clawhammer banjo style, we will examine and practice the fundamentals of this very accessible, very fun, and increasingly popular style of banjo playing. No banjo playing experience is necessary; true beginners are welcome. Upon completion of the course, you will have a couple of tunes under your belt and an understanding of the basic techniques and skills needed to play Clawhammer banjo.
Continuing Clawhammer (8:00-9:00 p.m.)
This course is designed for advanced beginners/intermediate players who already have a basic understanding of how to play clawhammer banjo. We will reinforce the basic technique while learning and applying a handful of more advanced techniques. Topics may include drop-thumb, alternate tunings (Double C, Sawmill), playing up the neck, learning by ear, playing in group settings, and more.
